Haven't written in a long time, and Ray has been bugging me to, so here I am! :P Just going to write something quick before I finish work.
My harddrive at home died... just as Ray thought it would. :P
Do not buy a hardrive with these specs: Western Digital 80GB, 8MB cache, 7200RPM
Ray's died in less than a week. Mine died in around three months. I think that's enough statistical evidence that's it a shit house harddrive? Ray might have more links on the 'net from other people complaining too. :P
It cost me $45 just to ship it to Singapore. The warranty thing said it requires a tracking number... so I had to choose super-special (and exp) mailing method. That's like one third the original cost of the harddrive already. :( Ah well... I'll probably just get another of the same model harddrive back, but I am going to buy new 80GB and then link them together on RAID for super backup/durability/speed goodness. :P Linux Volume Management rocks!
I lost:
* Pictures I coloured. I still have the original drawings in my drawing books though, so guess I can always atleast re-scan.
* Passwords (yeah, I'm a bit lame and pointless for writing out my passwords on text files... oh well :P). Most of them I can easily retrieve again, anyway - just a bit of a nuisance. LUCKILY the important ones are safely in my brain. :D
Things I had backed up
* All my stupid programs I made (they were stored on my wicked Subversion repository.
* All my music
I would of prefered losing all 4GB of my music and those programs than the stuff I really did lose. :(
Oh well... clean slate now. :D
